St. Johann Resort Guide

Resort Information

In a delightfully sunny setting, at the foot of the mighty Kitzbüheler Horn, the picturesque village of St. Johann will certainly capture your imagination. A fantastic choice for walkers and families, whether you want to relax, swim in the pools and lakes or try out the wide variety of activities on offer, from cycling to canyoning, climbing and rafting! The villages come alive in the summer and you can experience traditional folklore at the many local festivals.

Walking

There are almost 100kms of marked routes around the St. Johann valley for you to explore. Follow the river through rolling meadows, past the open air farmhouse museum to Kitzbühel, or wander to the foothills of the Wilder Kaiser mountains. Follow the trail to the picturesque Eifersbacher waterfalls or hike up to the Kitzbüheler Horn for spectacular mountain views. Half way up the Kitzbüheler Horn, just behind the village, is a tranquil mountain lake, and you can also connect to more hikes above neighbouring Kitzbühel. There are two weekly FREE guided walks organised by the St. Johann tourist office, or you can join their FREE Autumn Walking Week programme.

Activities

Spend a day relaxing at the village's fantastic leisure centre, the 'Panoramabad', with its indoor and outdoor pools, fantastic waterslide and splash-pool, FREE entrance to Crystal customers (excluding Guesthouse customers). The centre also has indoor and outdoor tennis courts and equipment can be hired. There is a bowling alley in the village centre, and your rep may offer a traditional Austrian bowling evening. Just outside St. Johann there are stables where you can go horse riding. As well as guided walks, the local tourist office organises weekly brass band concerts, dance evenings, a Tirolean evening and Nordic Walking. St Johann is a great area for cyclists with over 200km of cycle paths for all abilities. You can choose from easy paths along the wide valley floor to more demanding trails climbing up into the mountains, or even the Masters' Cycling World Cup route!
