Garda Resort Guide

Resort Information

With a wide sheltered bay and a long curved pebble beach lapped by the clear blue waters of the lake, Garda enjoys an idyllic position less than an hour from the historical city of Verona. Many graceful villas still remain in this beautiful area, the most notable being the Villa Albertini, a vast 15th century palace. A long wide traffic-free promenade lies beside the lake with delightful lively colourful cafés, open-air restaurants, cheerful bars and many shops and boutiques. The town livens up at night and the promenade is thronged with strollers. Pizzerias, restaurants, romantic candlelit bars and ice cream cafés become the focus of life.

Walking

There are pleasant walks along the lakeside promenades and Bardolino is a relaxing 45 minutes' to one hour stroll away. Olive groves behind the village mark the starting point for a series of paths taking the walker to high vantage points. The energetic might tackle the climb to the remains of the old La Rocca fortress.

Activities

Water activities range from safe bathing from shingle beaches to pedalo hire and water skiing and parascending between Garda and Bardolino. Mountain bikes can be hired, tennis played and there are two golf courses 3kms away, an 18 hole and a 9 hole. Gardaland, a theme park with white knuckle rides or Canevaworld, a water park with many attractions including the highest slide in Europe are both reached by local bus.
