Resort Information
Kranjska Gora, situated at an altitude of 810m, lies in the extreme north-western part of Slovenia, only 4kms from the Italian and 5kms from the Austrian borders; at the entrance to the Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps. There are some fantastic walking opportunities, either through the meadows or amongst the mountain peaks and an abundant array of sporting activities on offer.
Walking
There are excellent opportunities for walks of all abilities. Through the woods, around the lake, visiting waterfalls, rambling through the valleys dotted with small farms or up on the mountains either via the walking trails or the chairlift that operates daily in high season (3 days per week in low season). The Triglav national park became the first protected area in Slovenia, in 1924. It offers hiking delights, where you can admire the colourful alpine flora and observe animals in their natural environment. Guided tours of the park, led by natural scientists or professional park guides are available, (please ask your Crystal Rep.). For people looking for a serious hike, a full day will be needed to trek up to the Prisank mountain. Further more, your Crystal Rep. will advise you of the wide variety of walks available.
Activities
On the 'sunny side of the Alps', the climate is ideal for all types of outdoor activities, including cycling, horse riding or buggy rides, tennis, swimming, rowing boats, crazy golf, fishing, plus a vast array of excursions available. With 342km of bicycle trails, from easy family rides along the valley, to more demanding routes that will satisfy serious mountain bikers and the superb Elan mountain bike park, there is something for everyone to enjoy. This wonderful alpine village offers a range of shops, bars, street cafés, restaurants, leisure and sports facilities. Kranjska Gora itself is an ideal location for excursions to Italy, Austria, the Julian Alps or all three countries in one day!
