Resort Information
Framed by the turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea, the coast is brimming with history and tradition. Piran, situated at the head of the peninsula, has retained its medieval layout, with narrow streets and compact houses. Portorož is a cosmopolitan 'riviera' style resort, with 100 years of spa tradition and boasts a wonderful floral promenade. These neighbouring resorts are only a few km's away and linked by a regular bus service.
Walking
There are some magnificent paths to discover amidst picturesque Mediterranean scenery, up by the sloping vineyards, then through rich lavender and rosemary bushes. Begin by strolling along the 2km long promenade from Portorož to Piran, then visit an unusual fresh water lake in Fiesa or the sea-salt pans at Strunjan. When the sun goes down and the yacht marinas begin to twinkle in the dusk, Portorož comes alive with people taking a stroll. For more serious hikes, there are a number of wonderful trails to explore. There are several charming old Istrian settlements to discover, such as Padna, Sv. Peter, Kostabona, Pomjan and Gazon, all of which are just a few kilometres inland from the coast.

Beaches basking in sunshine are lapped by the clear, aqua blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. Coastal resorts abound with a variety of activities including cycling, swimming, sailing, windsurfing, diving, tennis and crazy golf. Portorož offers leisurely strolls by the sea, refreshing jogging on the beach, swimming in pools and the sea, beauty and health care programmes at thermal spas, sports and recreation to revitalise the body and soul. To view more of this glorious coastline and some of the stunning villages from the sea, full and half day boat trips are available in resort. You can also take boat trips to neighbouring Italian and Croatian resorts from the Portorož Marina, 4km from the town centre. In high season, many towns become live stages for an array of international festivals, music concerts and many other outdoor events. Piran with its medieval layout, narrow streets and compact houses. Piran's fabulous Tartini square is a magnificent place to witness an open air concert. There is also a diverse excursion programme on offer, including a unique trip to Venice by hydrofoil.
